OPCC Member Share Nights
Share & Discuss Your Work with Other OPCC Members
The Purpose of Share Night
OPCC’s goal is to connect and educate photographers in our region. Member Share Night, held on the first Thursday of the month, is designed to bring our members together for this purpose in an atmosphere of camaraderie and fun…
How Share Night Works
There are two formats for Member Share Night: 1) Member Review and Discussion and 2) External Evaluations.
Member Review and Discussion nights feature group sharing and discussion of images submitted by members with the goal of enjoying and improving our photography. A total of TWO images per member may be submitted for each meeting. For those members who process “Raw” images please also include your out of camera file along with the processed file so we can discuss your editing and how you achieved the look of your final image. You may also bring up to two prints that will be displayed commencing at 8:30 PM and after the digital/zoom portion of the meeting has been completed. The prints can be the same as your digital submission or they can be an entirely different image. The deadline for digital submissions is 11:00 PM on the Sunday before the monthly Member Share Night meeting. In 2024, the monthly meetings in January, February, April, May, July, August, September, and November will feature Member Review and Discussion. For those members who decide to also bring a print of one of their digital submissions, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the meeting in order to display your print. For questions, contact OPCC Member Share Night Chair Dan McKenna (opccphotos@gmail.com).
External Evaluation Review meetings are held in the months of March, June, September. These meetings feature scoring and ranking of member images by an external judge. Prior to meeting images will be displayed on the website so members may view and score the same as a judge. Judging is provided by Photographic Society of America (PSA) Club Judging Services or by professional photographers who offer image critiques. The judge will provide comments on the scoring of each image and, in some cases, examples of image editing. This feedback can be valuable for spectators who are critiquing their own work, as well as for the image maker. For questions, contact OPCC Competition Chair Peggy McClure (opcc.competition@gmail.com).
